$577 - Flights to Munich from San Francisco - Oktoberfest

This is the time to start thinking about Oktoberfest. Hotels and hostels can book up quickly, and booking flights sooner than two months ahead of time can cause flight prices to go up by a couple hundred dollars.

2009 Oktoberfest is September 19th to August 4th, according to the official Oktoberfest website, and the cheapest flights fly into Munich just a few days before the opening celebrations.

As with most flights to Europe, the cheapest flights between Munich and San Francisco fly Monday through Wednesday.

I just found a roundtrip flight for $577 roundtrip including all taxes and fees on Air Canada. Flight time is about 17 hours each way.

Air Canada is running a bunch of these flights, as is KLM. As an alternative to flying into Munich, flights to Frankfurt and Berlin can be two of the cheapest places to fly into in Germany.

A little tidbit about Oktoberfest, last year 6,940,600 liters of beer were consumed.
