$813 - Flights to Bangkok from San Francisco

This June and July, a number of airlines are offering discount flights to Bangkok from San Francisco for $813. I just checked on a number of days in June, and All Nippon (based out of Japan) is offering one-stop flights between Bangkok and San Francisco with a quick stop over in Tokyo.

Total flight time on these one-stop flights is under 20 hours.

But isn’t it rainy season in Thailand during June and July? I had the same reservations, but according to this Lonely Planet forum, June and July can be the best time to visit Thailand, as it is the off season, so many Thai hotels and hostels are much cheaper. Also, contrary to popular belief, the southern Thai peninsula doesn’t receive much rain at this time of year, and the northern parts of Thailand, plus Cambodia and Vietnam only receive an occasional shower, which in many cases cools things off for the better.

Ya, I was surprised too, but at $813 roundtrip, and with accommodations being dirt cheap. This could be the best time to visit Thailand, especially with flights to many other parts of Asia going up in price this summer.
