Traveler Notes: This is very much the off-season for Australian tourism. Australia is the hottest from November to March, and the chilliest from June-August, though even during these months, it doesn’t get much colder than 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

What to Do in Melbourne:

Melbourne is at the heart of the Southeastern state of Victoria. The city is filled with dive bars, restaurants, and cafes, all with an extremely relaxed atmosphere, many of which with outdoor seating or with live DJs spinning reggae or lounge music.

Just an hour and half drive from Melbourne is the beach town of Torquay, home to singer/songwriter Xavier Rudd, and home to some of the best surfing beaches in the world, including the infamous Bells Beach.

Torquay is also at the beginning of the Great Ocean Road, which is supposed to be as spectacular as the Pacific Coast Highway.
