LAN Airlines is offering one and two stop flights to Buenos Aires from San Francisco for $835 including all taxes and fees.
Their website offers flights for $799, but the cheapest flights I’ve found cost $835.
As an alternative, you can fly to Argentina with Continental Airlines or American Airlines for just over $1000 if you book ahead of time.
LAN Airlines requires that you stay for more than 4 days, including a Saturday, which shouldn’t be too hard to do after taking 20 hours to get there..
From Buenos Aires, a lot of travelers head straight to Mendoza as well, Argentina’s wine region which is a little over a 10 hour bus ride from Buenos Aires.

Aeromexico is offering the cheapest flights to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico from San Francisco right now.
Their flights only cost $303 roundtrip including all taxes and fees. Unfortunately, there’s also a long layover in Mexico City.
As an alternative, Alaska Airlines is offering direct flights to Puerto Vallarta for $368 roundtrip.
I’d suggest paying the extra $70, and take the hassle out of your flight.
The Aeromexico flight is part of their recently announced deal, and which only includes flights during the week, so you’ll need to take off a few days for your trip.

Virgin America offers one-way flights between Boston and San Francisco for $119. The big caveat is that you need to book your flight at least a few weeks ahead of time. In some cases, you need to book two to three months ahead of time.
I’ve found roundtrip nonstop flights between Boston and San Francisco for $250 including taxes and fees with Virgin. Flight leave San Francisco just after 10 on Friday, and come back in the afternoon on Sunday.
You could also fly to Boston on a Thursday and fly back on a Monday, and pay the same price, but not need to book your flight quite as far in advance.

Alaska Airlines is offering roundtrip direct flights to major cities in Western Canada from San Francisco for about 300 dollars including all taxes and fees.
These flights are part of Alaska Airlines most recent web promo found here, then select ‘Canada Fare Sale,’ or do a search on the sidebar.
Find cheap flights to Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, Kelowna, or Calgary.
I’ve been looking for flights priced under $300 to Vancouver from San Francisco for a while, and haven’t been able to find anything, so this will be one of your best options.
Alaska Airlines also just started offering flights to Hawaii from SFO, Oakland, and San Jose.

The Endangered Galapagos Tortoise - Quito is a common jump off point before heading to these islands.
Time for the bi-monthly update on flights to Ecuador from San Francisco.
The cheapest flights to Quito from San Francisco are still just over $600 (and have been this way for the last year).
Flights fly out of SFO with short layovers in Houston and in Bogota Columbia. You need to book your flight on cheapflights.com , which combines tickets from Continental and Avianca airlines.
You can start your search now, though the cheapest flights fly on Thursdays, Tuesdays, and Sundays.
American Airlines also flies to Quito, though their flights cost just under $800 roundtrip, with only a single stop.
All flights prices mentioned above include all airport taxes and fees.
There are no direct flights between San Francisco and Quito - only one and two stop flights, though very affordable.
Once in Quito, most travelers spend a day or two in the city, go East to the Western edges of the Amazon rainforest, or head West to the Galapagos Islands.
Tours and cruises through the Galapagos can be expensive. Flying to the Galapagos on your own can cost about $400 plus taxes and fees. Details here.

Both Continental and United Airlines are offering direct flights to London from SFO for $647 including all taxes and fees.
Like all London flights, you need to be extra sure that your price quote includes airport taxes. London airport fees can be as much as $200 usually, not to mention fuel surcharges, etc.
Virgin Atlantic recently dropped their prices on direct flights to London from San Francisco as well, but their flights cost more than $700 (though much more enjoyable than flights with Continental or United).
Direct flights between San Francisco and London take just over 10 hours.
When flying out of London, don’t forget to give yourself a couple of hours to get through security. Heathrow airport in London can be particularly slow.
Book flights now on any of these airlines by doing a couple of flight searches here.

I recently wrote about the relatively cheap flights to Tanzania from San Francisco on Emirates. As it turns out, this flight is just one of many that will take you to the many corners of Asia and Africa from San Francisco for a very reasonable price.
This flight sale includes discounted flights to any of these cities, among others:
Ahmedabad (AMD) $1,085
Beirut (BEY) $1,145
Colombo (CMB) $1,255
Dhaka (DAC) $1,280
Dubai (DXB) $1,130
Hyderabad (HYD) $1,110
Islamabad (ISB) $1,270
Johannesburg (JNB) $1,240
Most of the flights fly direct from SFO to Dubai, have a layover of anywhere from 4-14 hours, then fly direct from Dubai to your destination of choice. Total flight time, which varies widely depending on your destination, is then about 30 hours
When all is said and done, travel time is usually about 30 hours, but you end up in an exotic location at a cost of under $1500 roundtrip including all taxes and fees.
If you’re looking for a little adventure, I’d highly suggest doing a couple flight searches on the US version of the Emirates website here. You can also research details of their winter fare sale to destinations in Asia and Africa here.
Bon Voyage. I wish I had two weeks to take off to take advantage of these deals myself.

US Airways is offering flights to Las Vegas from San Francisco for under $100. Flights travel on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Flights with other airlines are about $150, so if you want to fly on Friday or Sunday (as most people do), you will have to pay an additional $50.
