This August and September, and for the rest of Fall, fly to Rio de Janeiro Brazil from LA for $521 roundtrip including all taxes and fees.

Flight Details:

The cheapest flights are usually on Monday-Thursday, but I’ve found a few flights flying in and out on the weekends as well near this price, and definitely under $600 total.

The cheapest flights to Rio are also on Delta, Northwest, and American Airlines. Delta and Northwest typically have a quick layover in Atlanta, and American usually has a quick layover in Miami.

Flight time between LA and Rio for these one-stop flights are usually between 17 and 20 hours each way.

For many different flight dates in September, Northwest Airlines is offering discount flights to Honolulu from LAX for $255. Flight cost includes all taxes and fees, and are for non-stop flights to Honolulu.

Flights to Hawaii are costing at least 300 dollars throughout all of July and August. Flight prices finally go down in September, and then are going up a bit in October.

There’s word that Hawaii in general is having some serious sales right now, especially all hotels and island flights. Flights between islands are now going for about $25 apparently.

Not too shabby.

Once you book your flight, I’d check out hotels.com or craigslist for discount condos, hotel rooms, or sublets.

This is getting rediculous. And I thought the flights from San Francisco to Athens were cheap. I just found a flight in late August to Athens from LA for $402 roundtrip including all taxes and fees.

There are about 5 different flights on Delta Airlines that are operating on Wednesday August 19th and Thursday September 3rd for $402 roundtrip.

That’s a 14 day vacation in Greece, and the cost of getting there is just about 400 bucks.

Flights between LA and Athens for any day are usually around $650, which is still extremely cheap, especially compared to the other flights to Europe from LAX these days.

Flight time on one-stop flights between LA and Athens is about 14-16 hours.

From Athens, Then What?

The biggest party islands in Greece are Mykonos, Ios, Santorini, Rhodes, Kos, or Korfu, but any Greek Islander will tell you that their Island has the best parties, and if you think about it, pretty much any of the islands will offer hot sun, beaches, and discos.

For a more relaxed time, head over to Crete or Kefalonia.

Don’t forget, Turkey, Italy, and Croatia are all just a short ferry away from certain Greek Islands as well, so if you have two weeks, you can loop in another country or two.

These are some the cheapest flights to Sydney from LA that I have ever seen. For the next 6 months, fly to Sydney from LAX for $591 roundtrip. A number of airlines are offering these discounted fares, including Delta, United, and Northwest, three of my least favorite airlines, but at this price, I’ll fly with any airline.

Flight Details:

The cheapest times to fly to Sydney is during all of August, September, October, and November, and during certain weeks in July.

Starting on December 1st, flight prices start going up a few hundred bucks, but these airlines may announce discounted flights for this time of year in the coming months, though tourism is much bigger in Australia starting in December, so I wouldn’t count on it.

Flight time between Sydney and LAX is about 13 hours for direct flights.

Here’s a cool thing to do at Sydney Harbor:

333 Dollars. That’s it. Price isn’t moving, but its not going up either, and you can fly on pretty much any combination of days and get this flight price.

I’ve checked the flight price for MANY combinations of travel dates for traveling between LA and Vancouver in June, July, and August, and this is the cheapest I’ve found.

Flight Details:

Roundtrip flights are on Alaska Airlines and they are non-stop. United, American Airlines, and Air Canada also offer direct flights to Vancouver from the Los Angeles area, with flights leaving from Burbank and Long Beach in addition to LAX.

Flights on airlines other than Alaska Airlines are anywhere from 30 to 100 dollars more expensive.

Flight time between LA and Vancouver is almost three hours exactly.

Air Pacific is offering discount direct flights to Nadi Airport (NAN) in Fiji from LAX this July. Flights cost $861 and take about 10 hours each way.

The next best price is about $1200 , so I’d suggest jumping on these tickets if you’re thinking about going to Fiji, as they’re not likely to be going down any lower any time soon.

Things to Do in Fiji:

In addition to snorkeling, diving, surfing, and trekking, check out the Garden of the Sleeping Giant at the foot of the Sabeto Mountains, and the Sigatoka Sand Dunes for some wildlife watching.

Also, traditional Fiji dance is supposed to be pretty spectacular.

You could save two dollars by flying on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday, but lets not kid ourselves. We only want to go to vegas on a weekend, preferably for the extent of the weekend, and we don’t want to use any PTO, which we could use towards trips going to other, cooler parts of the world such as Australia or Asia.

For the next 2-3 months, roundtrip flights to Las Vegas are going for $119, and they leave Friday late afternoon or evening, and they fly back at many different times on Sunday.

Now, you just have to choose an airline. Northwest, Delta, and American Airlines all offer quick non-stop flights to Vegas from LA. Alaska Airlines might have their prices drop soon.

For a couple of different days in June and July, All Nippon is offering flights to Bangkok, Thailand from LAX for $787. Flights have a short layover in Tokyo. Flight time is under 20 hours.

If you can’t find one of these flights on the days you need to travel, United, Northwestern, and Air China are offering one and two stop flights to Bangkok from LAX for about $840 on most travel dates.

Thailand Weather in June and July:

According to this Lonely Planet forum, it doesn’t get too rainy in Thailand in June and July, and the southern Thai peninsula doesn’t get much rain at all until later in the summer. The northern parts of Thailand get the occasional shower, which can actually be refreshing during a long day of travels.

Be sure to bring your rain jacket, but the summer rain in Thailand shouldn’t prove to be too much to travel there.

The image of a rainy season also keeps many of the tourists away during June and July, so hotels and hostels can be quite a bit cheaper during these months.

American Airlines and Virgin America both offer direct roundtrip flights between Boston and LAX in June for $230 or less.

Flight Restrictions:

Currently, the best time to fly is in early June. I have found specific flight deals on flights flying out on June 2 and flying back June 9th. Generally speaking, it can be quite a bit cheaper to fly on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Saturdays.

You can also find one-stop flights for 10 dollars less on US Airways or AirTran. Personally, I think ten dollars is a small price to pay for a direct flight, and saving 4 hours of transit time.

Virgin America has also just announced wifi access on all of their flights.

JetBlue is offering one-way flights between Long Beach and Portland, Oregon for $89. That makes it $180 roundtrip.

Flight Restrictions:

May need to book on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday, when it is often cheapest to fly on JetBlue.
