$159 - Flights to Chicago from Boston on AirTran

airtran-airways-logoOn very specific dates, AirTran Airways offers non-stop flights to Chicago from Boston for $159 including all taxes and fees.

This comes just as Southwest decides to continue their one-way flights between Chicago and Boston for $89 each way. Doing the math, AirTrain turns out to be about 20 dollars cheaper, though their flights are far less frequent.

It should be really easy to land a roundtrip flight to Chicago for $179 on most days.

Southwest Airlines is also one of my favorite airline for domestic flights. There’s almost zero chance of any kind of delay or rerouting.

I just wish they had more international flights.

The Royal Palace of Madrid. No Big Deal.

Spain continues to be one of the cheapest places to fly to in Europe from Boston. Starting in September, Air Canada is offering one-stop flights to Madrid through Toronto for $496 roundtrip including all taxes and fees.

British Airways and KLM Airlines are both also offering discounted flights to Madrid from Boston, but their price is 50 to 100 dollars more expensive.

The cheapest flights fly on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. There are cheap flights on other days of the week as well, but flight price tends to be 50 to 100 dollars more on these days as well.

Once in Madrid, its very easy to get around Spain, with many people heading East to Barcelona, North to San Sebastian, or South to Malaga.

I’d suggest looking into train rides from Spain to Portugal as well.

Here’s a full list of popular rail destinations in Spain.

Portugal is a beautiful country that can be relatively cheap as well. Its a big destination for folks from the UK.

There's No Shortage of Wildlife in Costa Rica

Both Continental Airlines and American Airlines operate frequent flights between these two cities. Flight time is usually between eight and ten hours, with flights having a quick layover in either Houston, Dallas, or Miami.

From San Jose, its very easy to get to anywhere in the country. You can book a van service online that will take you to all major resort or remote locations in Costa Rica. There are also some bus services, but if you are traveling with a couple of people. 100 dollars for a four hour van ride with zero delays can suddenly seem like a great deal.

$549 - Flights to Paris from Boston this Fall

french-person-funnyOn certain seven day and ten day intervals, there are a number of flights between Boston and Paris that cost under 600 dollars.

The cheapest flights are with Iceland Air with a quick layover in Reykjavik. Total flight time is about 10 hours each way.

Try searching for flights in late September or late August. Flights on other days are in the 600 to 700 range. Either way, these are definitely some of the cheapest flights from Boston to Paris that I have found in the last couple of months.

Many people can spend an entire week in Paris. I’d suggest catching their bullet train to the south which is about a three hour ride each way. From there, either rent a car or catch a coastal train ride to any of the towns or cities on the French Riviera.

Late September can be an especially great time to visit cities like Nice or Cannes, as they won’t be too touristy.

Tulum, Mexico is Just South of Cancun

You know where it isn’t raining? Cancun, Mexico, home of the Americanized resort just a short car ride away from seaside Mayan ruins, underwater caves, and roadside taco stands selling tacos for 50 cents American.

Both American Airlines and US Airways are offering one-stop flights to Cancun from Boston for under 250 dollars including all taxes and fees. Flights will take seven to ten hours each way.

Hotels in Cancun are being seriously discounted right now as well, as more and more travelers opt to stay away from Mexico, having seen too much mob violence and swine flu to go around.

But Cancun is about as safe as it always has been, and continues to prove to be one of the cheapest beach destinations south of the border.

Especially now.

At that price though, you could fly to Africa, South America, or Eastern Europe.

Spain is still one of the cheapest places to fly in Europe right now. Here are some other flight options in Spain.
